Carole L. Fleming (nee Fleming, Hall), 81, a resident of North Billerica and Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on August 13, surrounded by her beloved family after a brief illness.
Carole attended Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in North Billerica. She worked at Raytheon and Sweetheart Plastics, where she met the love of her life, Dennis Fleming. She then embarked on a long career as a pathology transcriptionist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was highly regarded by her coworkers and doctors.
Carole was educated in the Dracut school system and graduated in the class of 1960. During her teenage years, she enjoyed many dances at the Grange Hall in Dracut and the Holy Trinity Church in Lowell. She was an avid fan of American Bandstand and was a guest on the weekly TV dance show Boston Ballroom. Carole loved the beach and spent many summers at Salisbury Beach with her family. She cherished her annual trips to Martha’s Vineyard, which always began with a family gathering at The Seafood Shanty.
She treasured accompanying her beloved husband, Dennis, on his business road trips. Their home was the hub for hosting holiday gatherings. Her greatest passion was her large family. She never forgot a birthday and was the link to share important events happening in their lives. Carole was a gifted listener, offering advice when asked and always cheering on her loved ones to achieve their goals. Her pride for her family was unmatched. Carole will be remembered as a selfless person who always put others first. Additionally, she was a lover of animals taking in many strays over the years. Her kind spirit and generous heart set an example of how to live and give. She embodied honesty and humility.
She was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Isabel Fleming, her sister Laurel Fleming of Dracut, and her half-sister Ann Pike of Billerica. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Dennis, and her five children: Debra Artrip and her spouse Dennis of West Virginia, Brian Hall of Westford, Cynthia Beaulieu and her spouse Ray of Dracut, Jennifer Cooper and her spouse Ronald of Hudson, New Hampshire, and Scott Hall and his husband Derick of New York. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Diefendorf of York, Maine, and her dear friend Tom Sweeney.
Carole is survived by her stepchildren: Sue Crawford and her spouse Ron of Allenstown, New Hampshire, Pamela Valente and her spouse Paul of Brookline, New Hampshire, Rebecca Torpey and her spouse Mark of Pepperell, John Fleming and his spouse Barbara of Pepperell, and James Fleming and his spouse Erica Metzger of Arlington. She enjoyed her 18 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
