Gail Socha

May 30, 1944 — December 20, 2024

Gail Therese Socha, 80, originally from Windsor, CT, passed away at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA on the afternoon of December 20, 2024. Before moving to North Andover, MA, Gail was an active member of the Town of Windsor community, dedicating her time as staff at the Windsor Public Schools, and East Granby & Windsor Public Libraries; she also served as a private tutor for many school- aged children in the area. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Windsor, CT. Gail was a graduate of Enfield High School Class of 1962, and graduated later with a Bachelors of Arts degree in American Studies from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT.
Gail was born in Rutland, VT on May 30, 1944 and is predeceased by her parents, Dominic and Rita Mondella, both originally from Vermont, as well as her brother, Danny Mondella. She is also predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Francis G. Socha, originally from Hartford, CT. The two met at the Polish National Home, where Frank’s family were active members, in Hartford, CT, in 1967. The couple enjoyed exploring the scenic beauty of US national parks. They married and had one child, Kathleen Louise Socha. As a family, they frequented and made many great memories in Lake George, NY.
Gail spent a great deal of her time working on her home & in her yard. In fact, her extensive home projects, gardening, and elaborate painting were well known to her neighbors & community. She loved the outdoors, the change of the seasons, and cultivating her garden to welcome birds & butterflies. She loved mowing her lawn & building fences. She was also an amazing baker. Her oatmeal butterscotch cookies could not be replicated.
Besides her daughter, Gail leaves behind a sister, Audrey R. (Mondella) Henderson of Mounds, OK and her family, as well as a niece, Heather A. Oettel & her family of White Hall, MD and a nephew, Joseph W. Socha of Cockeysville, MD.
Gail was an avid reader and was always learning about history & the arts. She got to travel quite a bit with her lifelong friend, Kathleen Krilyno and her niece, Stephanie. Their annual July 4th trip to Tanglewood and theater trips to New York City were favorites. Gail enjoyed Florida, Freeport, Maine, and West Dennis, MA, but was especially fond of the Berkshires. She will be remembered always for cultivating, motivating, and encouraging her daughter’s study of vocal performance over the years.
As she would have requested, no services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation: www.berkshiretaconic.org.
