Laurel Fleming

October 30, 1945 — December 28, 2021

Laurel J. Fleming, 76, lifelong resident of Dracut died peacefully December 28, surrounded by her loved ones, after a brief battle with cancer. She was a communicant of Christ Church United of Dracut for many years and was known for her Christmas Solo of O’ Holy Night.

As a young adult, Laurel loved going to beach and was an avid card player. Laurel became a legal secretary and worked for many prominent attorneys in Lowell. She then pursued her Associate Degree in Business Management and was employed by Cabot Laboratories and Sweetheart Plastics.

Laurel loved spending time with family and friends especially holiday and birthday gatherings. Her big heart, sense of humor and zest for life will be missed. She was the original “Sports Mom” bringing her daughter, Cheryl to all her softball, racquetball and ice hockey games. She loved her cats and dogs and was an animal advocate caring for many strays.

Her lifetime partner, Mark Butler, her daughter Cheryl Allwood of Dracut, her sisters Carole Fleming and her husband Dennis Fleming of North Billerica and Linda Diefendorf of York Maine, survives Laurel. Laurel also had many nieces and nephews who she cherished. She will be deeply missed by her longtime friend of 50 years, Ruth Surprenant. She also survived by her friend John Haddad. Her parents Archie and Isabel Fleming and her favorite aunt Gladys predecease her.
