Madalyn I. (Adams) Kauffman, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at the Westford House in Westford, MA; at the age of 97, after a lengthy illness. She was born on March 21, 1927, to Walter Adams and Alma (Haglund) Adams. Madalyn was one of eight children, who all predeceased her. She graduated from Malden High in 1939. Madalyn married Richard George Kauffman on December 7, 1941. As he served in the Army during WWII, Madalyn worked at the canteen at Yale University, serving 3,500 Army and Air Force Cadets, morning, noon, and night. After the war, Richard and Madalyn moved to Chelmsford, MA, where they lived for many years, raising their two sons. Madalyn was interested in genealogy and discovered she was a direct descendent of Priscilla Mullen, John Alden, and John Quincy Adams. Madalyn worked in many retail jewelry stores in sales, beginning with Zales, then JM Fields, Hayes Jewelers in Chelmsford, and Diamond Jewelry in Westford. She also worked at Wang in Lowell, MA. Madalyn was always known for her quick wit and for being outspoken (which we all loved). She was a true Patriot and had strong political views. She could often be seen giving out poppies at the Memorial Day Parade in Chelmsford, for our veterans. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW in Tyngsboro (where she lived for many years after leaving Chelmsford. Madalyn was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her son, Gary Michael "GK", and all seven of her brothers and sisters. She leaves behind her son, Jim Kauffman and his wife Linda Varnum, of Hudson, NH; her daughter-in-law, Kathie (Leroux) Boisvert and her husband Ed of Nashua, NH; two grandchildren, Jennifer Camann of Hampton, NH, and Eric Kauffman of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her friends, facebook friends, and people that she touched throughout the years, with her heart of gold. Her memory will live on forever in us all. Missed and loved by all. At her request, there will be no services. Rest in Peace, Mad. | |
