Mary Lou Johnston

May 14, 1939 — July 16, 2024

Mary Lou (Hussey) Johnston, our beloved mom, grammy, and great gram passed away after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She passed with dignity and grace surrounded by those who loved her most.

She was born on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1939, and passed on July 16, 2024

She leaves behind her four children, Lynn Ellis (Bob) of Townsend, MA, Lori Collins (Pete) of Whitefish, MT, Lee Ann Boutwell (Nate) of Windham, NH and James Johnston of Seabrook, NH, her sister Patrcia Amando (Chuck) along with her six beloved grandchildren, six great children and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Patrick Francis and Mary Lucy (Linehan) Hussey, her grandson, Leo Rochon and her daughter in law, Jenni (Wiegand) Johnston.

Mary Lou is best known for her wicked love of laughter, the ocean, quilting and game playing, especially Mexican Train, Yahtzee and cards of any kind. Once she began a game, you were not allowed to quit…she could play forever. She was a voracious reader which she passed on to all her children, always looking for new and obscure words, which became mums “Word Of The Day”. She had a special interest in photography and nature and her happy place was her “Treehouse” in Haverhill, MA where she entertained her many friends and family.

She loved fiercely, was loved by many and will be missed and remembered forever.

The family would like to offer its sincerest gratitude and thanks to the caring staff of Mount Carmel of Manchester, NH

A private family funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 19 at St. Matthews church in Windham, NH with burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation or the National Alzheimer’s. Association
