Shirley Gouveia-Swanson

Shirley Jeanne Gouveia-Swanson, 58, of Lowell, MA passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 due to complications of Stage 4 lung cancer. She is the wife of her loving husband, Bruce Russell Swanson, Lowell, MA. She is the youngest daughter of the late Francisco and Rita Gouveia, Tewksbury, MA. She is predeceased by her brothers Francis J. Gouveia, Epsom, NH, and Richard Gouveia, Lawton, OK.


She is survived by her three sons, Anthony Mansolilli and his wife Kristen, Lowell, MA, Keith Thibedeau, Manchester, NH and Matthew Bufford, Plymouth, MA. Her brother Russell and his wife Pauline Gouveia, Billerica, MA and their children Jennifer Dixon, Aaron Gouveia, Melissa Gouveia. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


She is a graduate of Tewksbury High School of the class of 1984, and a Middlesex Community College graduate receiving a Certificate in Nursing. She had a long career in healthcare working her way to becoming a CNA/ Home Health Aid, helping people any chance she could. She loved going to Hampton Beach every summer, going camping with her husband while drinking peppermint mochas by the fire, and planting flowers in her garden. She loved frogs, sharks and the color purple. She had a warm heart and gentle smile that left an impact on everyone she met.
